Two ducks in little helmets, two tanks, one hill between them, and a wind that never quite blows the way you hoped. You take turns: pull back to aim, glance at the wind arrow, drive a little to better ground if you like, then fire. Each tank has 100 hit points, and when one runs out its duck waves a white flag, because nobody gets hurt. Besides the Big Shot, which never runs out, you carry a couple of Clusters, Diggers and Rollers, one Interceptor, and one Goose Drop, where a flight of geese bombs the spot you marked. You fight over a meadow, a beach, snowy peaks or the Moon, which has no wind at all and lets shells float for ages, with trees, hay bales, snowmen and a big rubber duck in the way.

There are three ways to play. The computer comes in Easy, Medium and Hard, and Hard rarely misses. The daily trick shot gives everyone the same bunker, ten shots and a par to beat. Or start a match with a friend, take your shot and send the link, and they fire back whenever they get a minute. The quacks are recorded from our own call ducks. It's free right here in the browser, from Ducklark, a little studio on Long Island in New York. Want the details first? Here's how to play Shellduck.
