Hatch Day

Flick an egg. Match three. Out pop ducklings.

Daily clutch

Endless nest

New rows keep coming. Three tries before the nest is full.

Somebody has stuck a whole clutch of eggs to the roof of the nest, and Tiny, our white call duck, waits at the bottom with one more in his bill. You aim, he flicks it up, and it sticks wherever it lands. Put it beside two of its own colour and all three crack open into ducklings. Anything that was only hanging on by them floats down and hatches too, and that is where the big points are. Every few throws the nest settles a row lower, so you can’t dawdle forever. The six eggs are real duck-egg colours, each with its own pattern, and the peeps you hear are ducklings from our own flock.

There are sixty levels, and our computer cleared every one before you get it; match its number of throws for three stars. The endless nest keeps adding rows and gives you three tries. The daily clutch is one nest, the same for everyone, with no clock, and your first go is the one that counts. If you like lining up a bank shot off the wall, this is your kind of puzzle. It costs nothing and plays in any browser. We’re Ducklark, a very small games studio out on Long Island. For the scoring and the nest egg, read how to play Hatch Day.
