Ducklark Games / Games / Word & trivia
Free word and trivia games
These are the games where you read something and answer in words or facts: a ladder of letters, a card of questions, a small crossword, a grid of hidden groups. They are short, they come in daily doses, and each one is free to play in the browser.
What counts as a word game here
A word game on Ducklark is one you play with language rather than reflexes. Some change one letter at a time, some quiz you on what you know, some hand you clues to fill in. Most also give you a new puzzle every day, so there is a reason to come back tomorrow.
The 4 word & trivia games
Stepword
A little story to climb every day, one letter at a time.
Start with COLD, finish with WARM, and change only one letter on each move. Stepword is a word ladder: every day brings a new pair of words and a short climb between them.

Rewind
Ten questions a day, from twenty-six branches. Pick yours or mix them all.
Which group sang "Dancing Queen"? If that kind of question makes you want to say the answer out loud, Rewind is for you. It is a trivia quiz with ten questions a day, and the whole thing takes a few minutes.

Theme Minis
A thousand small crosswords in 29 themes.
A crossword does not have to take a lunch break. Theme Minis squeezes the idea into a grid of five or six squares on a side, where every clue belongs to one subject, such as ducks, baseball, breakfast or the beach.

Pond Sort
Word solitaire by the pond: find the hidden groups of four and fill the nests.
Cherry, apple, strawberry, raspberry: you can see that these four belong together, and Pond Sort turns that small pleasure into a card game. It plays like solitaire, except the cards are words and the suits are groups that you have to work out for yourself.

Where to start with the word games
If you want something to read and think about for a few minutes, begin with the quiz or the crossword. If you like tinkering with spelling, start with the letter ladder. All of them explain themselves in the first screen or two.
